Burj Khalifa is the tallest man-made structure & commercial building ever built located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Burj Khalifa stands at a whopping 828 m (2,717 ft) and is a part of the 2 sq kms flagship development named Downtown Burj Khalifa near Dubai’s main business district.
The total cost of the construction of Burj Khalifa came to be around US$1.5 billion and the office space therein was being priced at US$4,000 per sq ft.
Burj Khalifa was earlier named Burj Dubai but incidentally its completion coincided with the worldwide economic slump and thus there were few takers. Burj Khalifa was renamed after UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which was seen as an attempt to boost confidence in Dubai and showing who is backing Dubai.
Few records set by Burj Khalifa are Tallest skyscraper to top of spire, Tallest structure ever built, Tallest extant structure, Tallest freestanding structure, Building with most floors, World’s highest elevator installation, World’s fastest elevators, Highest vertical concrete pumping, World’s tallest structure, Highest outdoor observation deck, World’s highest mosque, World’s highest installation of an aluminium and glass facade and World’s highest swimming pool.
